My heart swells with joy and gratitude as we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year. It feels just like yesterday when Mrs. Vivian Kityo envisioned a place of safety, hope, and empowerment for Uganda’s pregnant teenagers. Today, two decades later, Wakisa Ministries stands strong, having welcomed and cared for over 19,000 courageous young mothers, each with a story worth celebrating.

Each day at Wakisa is filled with heartfelt interactions, tears of resilience, and joyful victories. We have proudly maintained a remarkable 98% live birth success rate, a testament to our dedicated medical staff and compassionate midwives. Behind every successful birth is a dedicated team offering consistent counselling, emotional support, and reassuring smiles. Each girl who walks through our doors receives comprehensive medical care, personalised counselling, and compassionate support, enabling them to reclaim their self-worth and dignity.

Our vocational skills training programs have been a cornerstone of our mission, offering opportunities in tailoring, cooking, gardening, digital literacy, and hairdressing. Watching the transformation of timid, unsure teenagers into confident, skillful young women is deeply rewarding. I remember vividly one young mother who proudly displayed her first hand-sewn dress, beaming with confidence that had once seemed impossible. These skills don’t just empower, they restore hope, dignity, and independence.

One of our proudest achievements has been facilitating school reintegration for 65% of the young mothers we serve. Seeing these resilient girls return to classrooms and communities with determination inspires us daily. Each success story, from a teen mother earning her high school diploma to another enrolling at university, underscores our mission's profound impact.

As we mark this incredible milestone, I warmly invite you our generous supporters, friends, and well-wishers to continue walking this transformative journey with us. Your support is critical to our ongoing success, and together, we can build a brighter, safer future for Uganda’s teenage mothers. Here's to 20 years of dedication, love, and lasting change and many more years ahead!
